Garden hose or pressure washer kit?
You don't need a pressure washer to get a proper foam wash. The garden hose kits use the Captain's Musket, which screws onto a standard hose and lays down thick foam at normal mains pressure. If you already own a pressure washer, choose the pressure washer version for the Big Loads Foam Cannon, which gives denser foam and a faster rinse. Don't have either? The Pressure-Core 1800 bundle gets you both for $349.
How to wash your car with a kit
- Wheels first. Spray Wheel Wash on cool wheels, agitate with a brush, then rinse.
- Rinse and foam. Rinse off loose dirt, then cover the car in foam and let it sit for a few minutes out of direct sun.
- Contact wash. Wash top to bottom with the Wooly Wash Pillow, rinsing it often in a bucket of clean water. A Bucket Dirt Trap keeps grit off the pillow.
- Rinse and dry. Rinse well, then dry with a Big Mike microfibre towel before water spots form.
- Finish. Mist on Spit 'n' Lick spray wax or Final Touch ceramic detailer for gloss and water beading.

Car wash kit FAQs
What comes in a car wash kit?
Every wash kit includes Salty Captain Car Wash Detergent, a foam gun or cannon to apply it, a Wooly Wash pillow and a Big Mike drying towel. The Essentials and DIY Detail buckets add a 15L bucket, brushes, Interior Cleaner, Glass Cleaner and Grease Attack degreaser. The DIY Detail Bucket also adds Tyre Shine and Drip Dry.
Are the kits safe on ceramic coatings and wax?
Yes. Our Car Wash Detergent is pH-neutral, so it cleans without stripping wax, sealants or ceramic coatings.
Do I need a pressure washer?
No. Every kit comes in a garden hose version that uses the Captain's Musket foam gun.
How much do I save compared with buying separately?
Between about 20% and 49%, depending on the kit. The DIY Detail Bucket saves the most: the pressure washer version is $209, against $414.98 if you bought everything separately.
Can I use these kits on my 4WD or boat?
The gear works on anything. For heavy mud and salt, we recommend our 4WD cleaning range and marine range, which use stronger salt-removal formulas.
How much is shipping?
